Pumpkin Smash, Fall Harvest Festival

Happening this Saturday at Crabtree Farms

October 30, 2014
The “Pumpkin Smash, Fall Harvest Festival” fundraiser will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Crabtree Farms. Teams of engineers from Roper Engineering, Lafayette, GA, will be competing in a Pumpkin Chuckin’ trebuchet contest at noon, and guests are invited to bring their leftover Halloween pumpkins to launch following the contest.  This family friendly event will also feature carnival style fun-on-the-farm games and activities for all ages, live bluegrass music from Just Us Gals, and live folk music from A Bit Off Beet.

“This is an event we’ve been looking forward to all year,” says Sara McIntyre, Executive Director of Crabtree Farms. “Kids and adults alike get a kick out of watching their pumpkins fly through the air from the trebuchets. It’s a special time for the whole family to play and enjoy the farm.”

Delicious food from area vendors will be on sale during the event.  Guests may also bring their own food to fry at the fry station where Crabtree Farms will be selling homemade funnel cakes. Local hot apple cider and cold beer will also be on sale.

Admission is just $2 per person, or guests may bring one or more non-perishable food items each - to be donated to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank - and get in for free.

Proceeds from the festival will be used to support Crabtree Farms’ educational programs, which include Farm-To-School efforts, gardening education, and community outreach. Crabtree has remained on the cutting edge of environmental sustainability, and has continued to provide community education about gardening and healthy food choices for over a decade. Events such as the Pumpkin Smash, Fall Harvest Festival will allow the organization to continue making a positive impact in the Chattanooga community.
