National Dog Day is celebrated on August 26th to recognize the canine members of our families and communities. This day was founded in 2004 by Animal Welfare Advocate and Pet Lifestyle Expert, Colleen Paige, National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, mixed and pure, and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues.
Dogs have a long history of helping us humans; as well as serving with law enforcement in detecting bomb threats, drugs, victims in the wreckage, and helping to find those individuals who may have become lost. Dogs are such a valuable asset in our lives as well as the communities they live in.
Whether mixed or purebred, embrace the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe, and abuse-free life. They all give us so much love and companionship that we are all so thankful for.
This is the perfect day to go out and adopt a dog today that seeks a forever home. Their companionship creates lifelong benefits that bring joy, loyalty, and devotion to the family. No matter the breed, these pets become family.
